Three women - grappling
with fears, doubts and resentment - come together in a remote area of
Wyoming along a path of healing, reconciliation, tragedy and joy as the
story of TURQUOISE SKY unfolds in this inspiring novel of courage and
faith.
Ellie is angry and frustrated by Luke's decision to move the family to
Wyoming. Her resistance eventually softens as God's plan for High Hope
Shelter unfolds and touches her heart, but can she do what is required
of
her?
When Joyce is widowed by a car accident, she is left with no place to
go except a remote cabin far away in Wyoming. The disappearance of her
run-away son a few years earlier left her deeply wounded. She questions
her right to ever be happy again. Her journey to Wyoming and her
ultimate healing are paved with people pointing the way to God's love
for her.
Growing up half Native American, Susan struggled in a multicultural
world. Her desire to help bring wholeness to troubled Native American
youths of Wyoming gives birth to her dream of a shelter. Her struggles
and victories are shared with Ellie and Joyce as their paths intersect.
Their different backgrounds occasionally cause disagreements, but soon
prove valuable in understanding the various roles in which they find
themselves.
The support and strength of the men in their lives display God's love
and grace as the shelter comes into reality. Their hard work, prayers,
and mutual belief in a God of miracles form bonds that will last a
lifetime.
When tragedy strikes, new relationships are formed and greater
restoration begins, as God's purpose for diversity is affirmed. God
leads them through grief into comfort, healing and encouragement
through a network of family, volunteers and friends. Ellie proves to be
the person who holds the group together during the crisis that rocks
their dreams. She soon realizes she is indeed able to step into the
role God has prepared for her.
Another young woman, Janet, becomes the last link in the circle of love
as she takes over the work her adopted mother started 15 years before.
The message of the shelter - hope, forgiveness, and reconciliation - is
tested when Janet's natural parents desire to reconnect with their
daughter.
High Hope Shelter is the answer to the pain and struggles, not only of
the young people who enter the program, but also of those who work and
volunteer at the shelter. Answers to many questions come to light,
leaving the community stunned, but the purpose for the shelter remains
intact as relationships are reconciled and people are introduced to a
loving God.
